It’s been a while since, I put on cooking apron on for baking. Oh how I’ve missed it. I love baking and always have. But it takes some time and a little TLC. Since, we’ve been busy we sometimes forget what we love the most is right under our nose. Ever feel that way? It’s actually my escape from day to day routine. Then the best part is seeing your loved ones faces all light up and enjoying your sweet delight or masterpiece. That is priceless to me.
First, this cake costs about $5 to make. And that’s the total cost of buying the ingredients that I already didn’t have around. Since, there’s no shortage of strawberries this time of year; I love to incorporate them into my cooking. They are so healthy for you and filled with great vitamins.
Recipe: Easy Strawberry Shortcake under $5
Serving: 8 servings
- 1 Mrs. Fields White Cake Mix(plus oil(I used olive oil), egg whites, and water called for on the box)
- 1 Package Of Fresh Strawberries(sliced thinly)
- 1 can Whipped Cream
Preheat oven at 350 degrees. Prepare cake mix according to the directions on the box. In a high speed mixer: combine cake mix and mixing well. Pour batter evenly on a greased and floured 9″ cake pan. Bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Allow cake to cool over night covered in the fridge. Use a spatula along the edges and remove the cake. Cut the cake in half carefully to get a clean cut. Then frost the cake with whipped cream and then layer: with strawberries and whipped cream. For the top finish off with whipped cream and a layer of strawberry. Depending on your preference; you can use more or less whipped cream and strawberries. Enjoy! 🙂
